GST Changes From 1 November to Address Post-Sale Discounts and Refund Delays
|
| |
|

India is scheduled to introduce changes to its Goods and Services Tax (GST) framework from 1 November 2026, following a government notification dated 26 October. The changes concern the treatment of post-sale discounts and faster provisional refunds for businesses affected by inverted duty structures.
Post-sale discounts are common in industrial supply chains, where manufacturers may offer volume incentives, annual rebates or other commercial adjustments to distributors and customers. Clear documentation and correct tax treatment are therefore important for rubber manufacturers and traders operating through dealer networks.
The proposed refund elated changes are also significant for businesses whose GST paid on inputs exceeds the GST collected on outputs. Where eligible, faster provisional refunds could help improve working capital and reduce funds locked up in tax credits.
