Natural Rubber Prices Touch Record Rs.290/kg Amid Supply Tightness

India's natural rubber market witnessed a sharp price increase, with RSS-IV reportedly reaching Rs.290 per kg amid limited domestic availability and sustained industrial demand. The report attributed the rally to tight supply, strong procurement by tyre manufacturers and changes in growers' production choices. Domestic prices were reported to be above international benchmarks, potentially increasing the incentive to import rubber.

For non-tyre rubber manufacturers, including producers of industrial hoses, seals, gaskets, conveyor belts and moulded components, the price surge presents a significant cost-management challenge. Natural rubber is a critical input for many of these applications, and rapid price increases can squeeze margins where customer contracts do not allow immediate price revisions.
