India-New Zealand FTA to Take Effect on October 20
| |

The India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement is scheduled to enter into force on 20 October 2026. The agreement provides for zero-duty access for 100% of India's exports to New Zealand from the first day of implementation. The government has highlighted opportunities for engineering goods, textiles, footwear, leather and other manufactured products, along with improved prospects for MSMEs. For India's rubber product sector, the agreement could create additional opportunities for exporters of industrial rubber goods, hoses, belts, seals, footwear components and other value added products, subject to product specific rules of origin and tariff schedules. Exporters should assess the agreement's preferential market-access provisions ahead of implementation.
