India has initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of Para-tert-Octyl Phenol (PTOP) Formaldehyde Tackifier Resin from China. The investigation was formally initiated by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) on 28 September 2026. Tackifier resins are important speciality materials used in rubber compounding to improve tack, adhesion and processing characteristics. The investigation is therefore directly relevant to India's non-tyre rubber-product manufacturers, particularly producers of industrial rubber goods and engineered components. The action comes amid increased scrutiny of imported speciality chemicals and intermediates that compete with domestic production. The DGTR will examine import pricing and the impact on the domestic industry before arriving at its findings. For rubber compounders, the investigation will be important to monitor because any eventual trade-remedy measure could influence the landed cost and sourcing of tackifier resin.
