Natural Rubber prices gain support from weather and Crude Oil factors

Global natural rubber markets have come under renewed upward pressure as weather concerns and stronger crude-oil prices influence market sentiment. European Rubber Journal reported that weather-related supply concerns and El Niño risks, together with higher crude prices, were supporting rubber futures on the Japan Exchange.

Weather conditions are particularly important for natural rubber because production is concentrated in Southeast Asian growing regions. Excessive rainfall, drought conditions or disruptions during tapping periods can affect latex collection and consequently influence availability.

For India’s non-tyre rubber manufacturers, natural rubber price movements are significant because NR remains an important raw material for hoses, belts, seals, vibration-control products, footwear, medical products and numerous industrial applications. Higher raw-material prices can put pressure on manufacturing margins, especially among MSMEs operating under fixed-price supply contracts. Global rubber buyers are therefore closely watching plantation conditions, crude-oil prices, currency movements and regional supply developments as they assess procurement requirements for the coming months.
