India imposes Anti-Dumping duty on Sulphenamide Rubber Chemicals

In a significant policy development for the rubber chemicals sector, the Government of India has imposed anti-dumping duties on imports of Sulphenamide Accelerators from China, the European Union, and the United States for a period of five years. Sulphenamide Accelerators are widely used in tyre manufacturing and industrial rubber products, playing a crucial role in the vulcanisation process.
The decision follows an investigation conducted by the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR), which concluded that imports at unfairly low prices had caused material injury to domestic manufacturers. Depending on the country of origin and the producer, the anti-dumping duty ranges from US$75 to US$1,748 per tonne.
The measure is expected to provide relief to Indian manufacturers of rubber chemicals by creating a more level playing field and encouraging domestic production. Industry stakeholders believe the decision will also promote investment in India's specialty chemical sector while reducing the adverse impact of unfairly priced imports on local manufacturers.
