Carbon Black industry accelerates investment in Sustainable and recovered materials

The global carbon black industry is accelerating investments in recovered carbon black (rCB) as tyre manufacturers and material suppliers pursue circular economy initiatives and lower-carbon manufacturing. Leading tyre manufacturers, recycling companies, and carbon black producers are collaborating to scale up recovered carbon black technologies, with major industry events in Asia and Europe highlighting growing commercial interest in sustainable alternatives. Market research projects the global recovered carbon black market to expand rapidly, growing from approximately US$297 million in 2026 to over US$3.5 billion by 2034, reflecting increasing adoption across tyre manufacturing, industrial rubber products, plastics, and coatings.
Future growth will depend on improvements in recycling technology, product consistency, and regulatory support for sustainable materials. Research also indicates that modified recovered carbon black can significantly improve the mechanical and rheological properties of rubber compounds, making it an increasingly viable substitute for virgin carbon black in selected applications. As environmental regulations become stricter, investments in recovered carbon black are expected to reshape the industry's long term growth strategy.
