On the occasion of World MSME Day 2026, Bharat Khera, Secretary, Ministry of MSME, outlined the Government of India's vision of making Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) the primary catalyst for achieving Viksit Bharat 2047.

He emphasized that MSMEs will evolve beyond being the backbone of the economy to becoming key drivers of innovation, manufacturing excellence, employment generation, exports, and global value chain integration. Khera highlighted that over 8.6 crore enterprises are now registered on the Udyam Portal, enabling greater access to government schemes, institutional finance, and formalization. He also stressed the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital transformation, Industry 4.0 technologies, easier access to finance, faster resolution of delayed payments through the MSME Samadhaan platform, technology centres, and export competitiveness. The discussion reinforced the government's commitment to building a technology-driven and globally competitive MSME ecosystem capable of supporting India's long-term economic growth.
