A total of 75,000 tonnes of natural rubber was exported during the year 2003-04 through Rubber Board as against the target of 50,000 tonnes. That compares with 55,311 tonnes exported in the previous fiscal against the target of 33,000 tonnes, a board official told here. Rubber Board is the designated authority nominated by the central government, which acts as a promoter of exports.

The export consists of centrifuged latex 17, 000 tonnes, block rubber 20,000 tonnes and rubber sheet 38,000 tonnes. Of the total export in the previous year 79 per cent constituted sheet rubber, but in the current year the share of sheet rubber was 52 per cent and the rest was value added rubber, the official said.
