Chemours Co. has entered a strategic partnership with Indian chemicals group SRF for the manufacture and supply of fluoropolymers and fluoroelastomers in India by 2026.
Chemours said the partnership will strengthen its supply chain footprint and improve operational flexibility by providing access to capacity for the polymers. The polymers, it noted, are critical materials for a range of industries, including semiconductor, automotive and aerospace.
Chemours will be 'leveraging SRF's established manufacturing capabilities' to deliver "a reliable supply of high-quality products."
The agreement, said the US supplier, will supplement Chemours' existing global operations, allowing it to "efficiently bring supply flexibility while requiring no upfront capital investment."
According to Chemours CEO and president Denise Dignam, the arrangement is part of Chemours' strategy to shift its product mix to higher value applications. Among other brands, Chemours' flagship products are sold under brands such as Teflon, Viton, and Krytox.
SRF's fluorochemicals are marketed under brands such as Floron and Dymel, while its fluoropolymers are sold under the brand Flonio.
SRF operates 13 manufacturing plants in India and one each in Thailand, South Africa, and Hungary, and employs 9,000 people globally.
