
All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA) organized a webinar on HR Policies and Procedures for MSMEs, by key note speaker Dr. Rana Jee, in an effort to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in building effective people centric workplaces.
Dr. Rana Jee is a seasoned professional with a strong background in finance, business strategy, leadership, and innovation. A PhD from ICFAI Foundation of Higher Education, he combines academic excellence with extensive experience across diverse industries. He is known for driving organizational growth and excels at fostering collaboration and delivering strategic solutions.
The session commenced with a warm welcome and introduction by Dr. Shobha Dhawan, Chairman of AIRIA - Northern Region.
The webinar started with an engaging and informative session by esteemed speaker Dr. Rana Jee, where he focused on scalable, practical HR strategies tailored for MSMEs. He began by outlining the critical role of basic HR policies in shaping organizational behavior and ensuring consistency, fairness and legal compliance.
Further, he emphasized that even small enterprises should have core HR systems in place such as codes of conduct, leave and attendance policies, payroll mechanisms, and grievance redressal systems, to provide a structured work environment.
Highlighting the employee centric HR management, he urged MSMEs to treat employees as key stakeholders and introduced seven essential HR policies that could be easily scaled as the organization grows, reinforcing the value of a people first, purpose driven culture.
Talking about the Digital Transformation in HR, he advocated for the digitalization of HR processes, including recruitment, appointment documentation and leave management. He highlighted the effectiveness of digital tools in enhancing employee engagement and. He also suggested cultural initiatives such as flexible workdays, recognition boards, wellness programs and diversity celebrations. These elements, he noted, foster both innovation and loyalty in the workplace. He also recommended combining monetary rewards with non-financial recognition such as public acknowledgment. He also underlined the need for an effective grievance redressal system and continuous employee development through training and job rotation.
Concluding the session, he urged MSMEs to adopt HR policies that are cost effective yet impactful. He advised starting simple, customizing policies based on business priorities, securing leadership support and fostering regular communication. He encouraged participants to introduce or enhance at least one HR policy each quarter, maintaining a collaborative and adaptive approach.
