Rubber price breaches Rs. 200 mark after 12 years

Rubber price breached the Rs. 200 mark after 12 years. The rubber was traded at Rs. 203 per kilogram till June 8. The rate recorded by the Rubber Board on June 10 was Rs. 199, while it was traded at Rs. 194. In April, the rate was at Rs. 190. The rates in the 2014-2016 period and the 2011-12 period were Rs. 113 and Rs. 208.65, respectively.

The present price of rice is in pair with the international market and has been attributed to factors like Thailand floods, one of the major producing countries, and wintering. The rise in rubber prices is likely to continue for some time due to the dwindling market supply. Major corporations are securing large quantities of the product, often three to four months in advance, anticipating scarcity in the near future.
