All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA), WR - Pune Chapter, had recently organized Series of Technical Seminar initiated by Pune Chapter Chairman Mr. Rajesh Mhaske and Vice Chairman Mr. Ninad Joshi. This seminar was free-of-cost for AIRIA members and was conducted by both online and offline medium.

The 9th topic titled 'Know your FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy)' on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. It was presented by Faculty Dr. Jayant Gadgil, who boasts 30 years of experience as a Professor of Polymer Science, also he is faculty of our ACCRT (Autonomous Certificate Course in Rubber Technology) course in Pune Chapter.

The Seminar started with Welcome Session with the Participants and with a short introduction of the speaker. The Seminar began with an intro to the topic followed by Typical spectra of known elastomers, Comparison of raw and vulcanized rubber, Trends of use in the research of elastomers.

Further Mr. Gadgil followed with the Spectrophotometer and explored more on the subject and touched topics such as various spectrophotometry's, similar techniques, techniques in IR, molecular structural features, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, FTIR of the known elastomers, spectra of natural rubber, spectra of synth cis polybutadiene, vulcanization study, SBR comparison, polybutadiene comparison, EPDM comparison, neoprene comparison, Hypalon comparison, examples of uses, rubber extract from Fig tree, New source of rubber, Effect of pH, Correlation of FTIR and mechanical strength, FTIR of NR, NBR, EPDM.

This Seminar was attended by more than 50 plus delegates both online and offline from all over India. The participants were very pleased and gratified with the productive information shared by Dr. Jayant Gadgil. All the Participants stayed till the end and gave a patient hearing to the entire session. It followed by a brief, question and answer session and active participation. All the attendees were enthralled at deep insights shared at the platform and appreciated the speaker.
