Maplan GmbH, an Austrian elastomer injection moulding machines and cold runner blocks manufacturer, has inaugurated and opened a new manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The facility, located at GIDC Vatva, spans 11,000 sq. feet of office and workshop area. There is also ample open space available for further expansion.
From a strategic perspective, India has been on Maplan's radar for some time now, as it has established itself as one of the fastest growing economies worldwide. India is characterized by stable democracy and robust government support. Furthermore, substantial government investments are being made in India's national infrastructure, including renewable energy, roads, railways, and water supply. The automotive industry in India also shows significant growth potential. Compared to the European Union, India currently has low car ownership, with an average of only 22 cars per 1,000 residents, while the EU has 576 cars per 1,000 residents.
Maplan aims to capitalize on these market opportunities by establishing specialized production lines, supported by existing technical expertise and extensive industry experience. Maplan India has a growing team of fifteen employees who are experts in their respective fields. The team is well-trained at the Maplan headquarters in Kottingbrunn, Austria. Maplan India is a new competence center outside of Austria that integrates mechanical, electrical, and software design and development. The entire team, including sales, service, production, and development, is now under one roof, allowing us to meet the demands of the growing Indian market with high quality Maplan machines.
The new plant will not only contribute to India's economic development but will also serve our international customers by expanding a local support network and providing high quality machinery and turnkey solutions with molds and cold runner blocks.
With the introduction of our well-known machine series Platin+ 280 ton and 460 ton, having injection volumes ranging from 200 ccm to 10,000 ccm, along with our servo drive technology (proven since 2008) and the original FIFO (First-In, First-Out) injection system, MAPLAN offers the Indian elastomer industry value additions in terms of production cost optimization as well as the reduction of energy and rubber waste, leading to a lower carbon footprint.
